My interest in kiln fused dichroic glass and jewelry began in the fall of 2003 when I signed up for a glass art class at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. I was immediately hooked and since then have been having more fun than I could imagine-creating beautiful, colorful pieces of glass to incorporate into jewelry.
I bought a kiln and began experimenting making pieces using different firing techniques, temperatures, densities and shapes. I have experimented with various ways to finish the glass including wire wrapping, bezel setting in sterling silver, copper and brass, and making my own bails and ear wires.
In 2013, I bought a large kiln and I have been experimenting with making larger pieces including bowls, plates, and sculptures.
All of my pieces are one of a kind, individually designed and hand crafted. In 2015 I won the “Peeper’s Stained Glass Art” award at the West Michigan Area Show. I also won the ‘Best in Jewelry’ award at the West Michigan Glass Art Center. My work has been exhibited in area art galleries including the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Carnegie Center in Three Rivers, Portage District Library, Richland Library, UniQ Gallery, Midtown Gallery, and West Michigan Glass Art Center.
I teach jewelry/metal working and fused glass classes at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. I was Executive Director of the West Michigan Glass Art Center from 2006 to 2010.
